Mia and Jonny tied the knot on a beautiful (and surprisingly non-rainy) April day. Their families traveled from the couple’s hometown of Tampa, Florida to celebrate them at The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC, where Mia is studying to become a surgeon at University of North Carolina. The neutral tones complimented the beauty of the ballroom, making it a beautiful setting for a plated reception. DJ Randy B from Bunn DJ Company kept the guests on the dance floor the entire night, including the bride and groom! We had a blast with this couple and we were able to catch up with them recently! Take a look at the stunning photos captured by F8 Photo Studios and our interview with Mia below.
Where and how did you two meet?
I met Jonny through his sister. He picked us up one night and we’ve been together ever since! That was in 2004 in our hometown of Tampa, FL.
How did he propose?
We were walking our black lab, Bella along the pier in Stuart, FL. I was actually complaining about being cold because it was so windy, but when I turned around, Jonny was down on one knee!
Describe the wedding planning process.
As a surgery resident I had very little time to participate in planning. I have to thank my mom for most of it. I only did a fraction of the work! Some parts were really fun- like picking out the venue and cake tasting! Thank you Mom for the amazing wedding and all of your hard work.
Let’s talk about before the wedding!
We all went out on Franklin street the night before- I think there were 30 people in our group that night. I slept in, my mother brought my bridal party Rise Biscuit sandwiches, and we sat around in a parlor at the Carolina Inn drinking blood marys, listening to Nsync, and watching each other get beautiful!
What was your overall feeling at the end of the wedding day?
Exhausted but excited to start my life with my new husband!
What was your favorite design detail?
The gold accents with the candles amongst the beautiful flowers!
Anything go unexpected?
I bought 2 beautiful pairs of Bagdley Mischka shoes- one for the ceremony and one pair for the reception which were more comfortable. Somehow I ended up in black flip flops at the reception but at least my feet didn’t hurt the next day!
Anything you truly loved?
We had DJ Randy B from Bunn DJ company and everyone still talks about the great music! There is one picture where literally everyone at the reception is up dancing. It was a blast!
Let us know about any unique aspects of your wedding!
The ballroom for the reception was very colorful with pinks and blues and beautiful chandeliers. I wanted to stick with white and gold as my colors, with my bridesmaids in cobalt blue. Everything tied together so well! Everything was beautiful- even better than my Pinterest page!
